Anyone who has attended 3 of our LEHWES training sessions within an academic year will receive the title of Compassionate Champion for that year and a certificate. An individual will need to attend 3 or more LEHWES training sessions each academic year to continue to hold this title.

If you are a school or college within Lancashire, then you are eligible for the award!

All we ask is that your setting over a 2-year period:

   - Completes the Compassionate Schools Hub Self Assessment Tool and identifies a person who has ultimate responsibility for overseeing the implementation of actions from this tool.

   - Attends the equivalent of at least sixteen hours of LEHWES training. This includes attending: 1 session from our Core and Refresher Training Series; 1 session from our Skills for the Mind Training Series; 1 session from our Working with Parents and Carers Training Series; 3 sessions from our Relationship, Connectedness and Belonging Training Series; 1 session from our Targeted Support Training Series; And either our LEHWES Senior Mental Health Lead Training or 1 session from our Identifying Need and Monitoring Impact Training Series.

   - Post 9 entries to Our Scrapbook within your Compassionate Schools Hub account to share examples of how your setting has implemented each of the DfE’s (2021) 8 principles for a whole setting approach to emotional health and mental wellbeing, including referring to how LEHWES training has helped you to do this when applicable.

   - Attend two 30-minute LEHWES Consultation Sessions.

Settings who gain an award demonstrate their strong commitment to implementing a whole setting approach to emotional health and mental wellbeing. The award guarantees settings have attended at least 16 hours of evidence-based training and taken steps to embed this learning into a whole setting approach.

Each setting that gains the award will be:

    - promoted on the Compassionate Schools Hub website,

    - invited to attend an annual award ceremony,

    - provided with promotional materials and certificate to share their success with their whole setting community,

    - and invited to attend exclusive specialist training and networking events.

There is no additional cost to the award. LEHWES is a commissioned and funded service by the Lancashire County Council Public Health Team.

You will have 2 years to meet the criteria for an award. You can gain an award anytime within each 2 year period provided you have met the eligibility criteria for the award. LEHWES will review submitted reports for the award on a termly basis so there may be a slight delay between submitting your report and confirmation that you have achieved an award.

Once you have achieved an award, you will then maintain the award for a further 2 years within which time you will also be invited to collate evidence for reaccreditation. After the 2 year period, you can then apply for reaccreditation so that your setting maintains your award status.

The two-year periods are as follows:

• September 2024 to July 2026
• September 2025 to July 2027
• September 2027 to July 2029

For example, for the September 2024 to July 2026 cohort, this means that you have until July 2026 to meet the criteria for the award. Once gained you will keep the award until July 2028 at which point you will be asked to go through the reaccreditation process.

We offer a mix of both online and face-to-face training. It will be possible to achieve the award by attending all sessions virtually. Any number of people can attend the 16 hours of training for the award. Your setting could choose the same person or several people to attend all the training sessions.

LEHWES will update your setting’s training dashboard within the Compassionate Schools Hub on a termly basis, so you can see which training, and the number of consultation sessions, your setting has attended.

This information will automatically update the Compassionate Award checklist within your secure password-protected account.

Once you have met all the criteria, simply press submit on the Final Submission page within your Compassionate School Hub account and the LEHWES will automatically receive a copy of your report to review.

We update the training dashboards for each setting on a termly basis. We ask attendees at our training to sign a register at the start of the session. This is crucial to complete as we use this information to update each setting’s Training Dashboard.

If a staff member did not complete the register, then unfortunately we do not have a log of their attendance and are unable to update your setting’s Training Dashboard accordingly.

If there are multiple attendees from the same setting each person must sign the register for their attendance to be logged.

You will be able to book onto our LEHWES Consultation Sessions for ongoing support in completing the Self Assessment Tool and in gaining the award.
